On 7th February, 1915, the 2nd Royal Scots Fusiliers battalion of 21 Brigade, 7th Division, moved into the front line at La Boutillerie near Fleurbaix in France where they remained until relieved on 10th February. It was on this last day in these trenches that George Rigg was killed when he was hit by a sniper’s bullet coming through a loophole. |
